You can’t eat money

Every day people work hard to make money and comply with their responsibilities. This is good as it keeps our societies going. However, as most of us are tied up in those daily obligations, we sometimes tend to forget where it all starts. Especially when you live in a city, you start to think that a city is important and a basic entity of our society. However, it isn’t.

In a city we materialize the results of our society, but they are not the basis of our society. They are the result of a sound basis of our civilizations. The real bases of our civilizations are:
  • Oxygen
  • Fresh water
  • Food
You can live without an iPhone, or without a car. You cannot even live 3 minutes without oxygen, not live 3 days without water or 3 weeks without food. As soon as you realize the importance of the basics of our civilization, I hope you also realize that you take the responsibility to take care of these 3 basics.

The word ‘basic’ is disturbing. It looks like ‘not so important’. However, a house without a strong basis – the foundation – will collapse eventually. A society without a good basis will also. Think about that when you drive your car, while using your iPhone: you can’t eat money, you can only eat food!
